About the Department
The Human Imaging Research Office, or HIRO (pronounced \'hero\'), wascreated in early 2009 as an initiative of the Biological ScienceDivision\'s Imaging Research Institute. The IRI intended the HIRO to bethe intermediary for clinical trials and research protocols that requirethe use of medical imaging or radiology resources. In this regard, theHIRO\'s goal is to standardize the process for utilizing these resourcesfor research purposes and to make this process more efficient andaccurate. This includes the acquisition, analysis, de-identification anddistribution of image data. The HIRO\'s mission is to facilitateUniversity of Chicago investigators conducting clinical trials andresearch studies that require medical imaging and to ensure that thenecessary imaging is performed and distributed in compliance with theresearch protocol, IRB requirements, and HIPAA regulations.
Job Summary
The Image Distribution Specialist assists with the review, retrieval,de-identification, processing, and distribution of medical image datafor research projects and clinical trials. The job performs routineassignments related to scientific research projects. Ensures complianceof research activities with institutional, state, and federal regulatorypolicies, procedures, directives and mandates. Analyzes possiblesolutions using standard procedures. Writes articles, reports andmanuscripts. Assists in drafting presentations on research findings.
Responsibilities
Initiates and monitors image data retrieval and de-identificationprocesses, and reviews output for consistency and accuracy.Performs extractions of image data directly from clinical equipmentwhen required.Completes data transmittal forms and related clinical trialpaperwork for imaging exams (in consultation with medical personnelwhen required).Assists with image database cohort identification and building.Participates in clinical trial training sessions for imageacquisition and submission requirements.Responds to inquiries from research teams and clinical trialcoordinators.Investigates and responds to imaging-related queries from clinicaltrial imaging vendors and core labs.Maintains technical and administrative support for a researchproject.Analyzes and maintains data and/or specimens. Conducts literaturereviews. Assists with preparation of reports, manuscripts and otherdocuments.Performs other related work as needed.Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor\'s degree in a field relevant to clinical research orimaging science strongly preferred.Experience:
