Houston Chronicle Reporting Internship

　　The Houston Chronicle is looking for motivated student journalists who plan to pursue a career in journalism for its summer 2024 internship program. Based in Texas, the Houston Chronicle is a Hearst newspaper in the nation's fourth largest city. Houston is also one of the country's most diverse cities.

　　Position Overview: We are seeking dynamic reporting interns to join our newsroom team. Interns will have the chance to work in one of the following departments: Metro, Business, or Features. This hands-on experience offers an unparalleled opportunity to cover breaking news, craft engaging profiles, explore trending topics, and collaborate with seasoned editors on developing impactful enterprise stories.

　　Responsibilities:

　　Investigate and report on breaking news, profiles, and trending subjects. Collaborate closely with editors to conceptualize coverage and enhance writing skills through meticulous editing. Contribute to in-depth stories about diverse topics such as crime, immigration, and the Latino community.Requirements:

　　Juniors, seniors, or recent graduates with prior experience at a college, newspaper, magazine, or website. Valid driver's license and completion of upper-level journalism courses. Strong portfolio: Submit 3 writing samples (clips), a concise 2-page resume, and a cover letter (not exceeding 500 words, addressed to the recruiting committee) detailing your passion for journalism and what you hope to achieve through this internship. Proficiency in Spanish, Vietnamese, or Chinese (preferred but not mandatory).Internship Details:

　　Duration: 10 weeks, starting from early June and concluding in early August. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, with occasional weekend coverage based on news demands. Location: On-site in Houston, Texas. Technology: Interns must possess a personal laptop with WiFi or hotspot access for occasional off-site reporting.
