NORTHAMPTON SEASONAL 6 WEEK POSITION JUNE 22-AUGUST 4 House Manager JobDescription The Residential Life portion of the Precollege Programshelps participants acclimate to living on a college campus by providinga safe and welcoming environment, fostering strong relationships withpeers and mentors, and maintaining an atmosphere where participants aretaken seriously and inspired to excel. Primary Function Create a housecommunity based on safety and inclusiveness. Provide enriching socialand cultural opportunities. Live in the residence halls with the SmithPrecollege Program participants and staff. Supervise high schoolprecollege participants in the residential portion of the program.Maintain high health and safety standards, including following the SmithCollege Minor Safety Plan and Precollege Program Policies and Protocol.Coordinate shift coverage and guide residential staff in their duties tolead activities. Details This full-time, seasonal, six-week positionruns June 22 - August 4, 2024. Thirty-five to forty hours per week,including room and board. Most hours are in the evenings. Weekendsrequired. The rate ranges from \$18-\$22 per hour and is commensuratewith experience. Living on campus through the duration of employment isrequired. Participation in all health and safety protocols is required.Housing is for employees only in a residence hall with shared entry.Work on the 4th of July is required. The position is not eligible forholiday pay. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor\'s degree preferred.Management experience is strongly preferred. Experience in ResidentialLife and working with high school students is required. Experienceplanning and implementing activities for groups is preferred. First Aidand CPR certification are required. Essential Job Functions 50% Houseand Staff Management: Organize residential staff and lead house meetingsand briefings. Create and oversee the work schedule for your house team.Ensure communication channels remain open between the classroom andresidential settings. Assist in assigning duties and activities tostaff. Provide ongoing feedback and direction to all staff. Be a rolemodel to staff and participants in your attitude and behavior. Helpmanage the house budget for program supplies. 50 % ParticipantSupervision and Activities: Approve all house activities to ensure theirappropriateness for Smith?s precollege programs. Provide interventionbetween house residents when necessary and mediate conflicts within yourhouse and across houses. Occasionally speak with parents and guardiansof participants. Other duties, as assigned.
