Summary This is a National Guard Title 32 Excepted position for a HEALTH TECHNICIAN, Position Description NumberPDD1243000, and is part of the SC MED COMMAND, South Carolina Army National Guard. Responsibilities This position is located in the State Surgeon/Occupational Health Office. The primary purpose of this position is to provide assistance in the administration of comprehensive Joint Forces Headquarters-State (JFHQ-S) Occupational Health/Industrial Hygiene (OH/IH) Programs. Health aids and technicians perform sub professional medical duties such as the administration of medications, rendering emergency treatment, performing medical tests and examinations, etc. The duties vary with the type of assignment and grade of the position. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION OPEN TO THE FOLLOWING AREA OF CONSIDERATION (AOC): Area of Consideration: This position is open to Area 1 Only. Area 1: Current employees of the South Carolina Army National Guard (Tenure 1 and 2) Area 2: Current members of the South Carolina Army National Guard Area 3: Any individual eligible for membership in the South Carolina Army National Guard *Temporary and Indefinite employees do not meet permanent tenure requirements and are not eligible for Area 1. GENERAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Experience, education, or training which provided a basic knowledge of principles and practices related to the health care delivery system. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: - Must have at least 18 months experience, education, or training which provided a working knowledge of missions, organizations, programs and requirements of health care delivery systems. Experience analyzing and recommending solutions to complicated problems. Experience developing and implementing various policies and procedures used in the state medical programs. Experience involving various administrative areas such as budget, personnel and public relations within a medical activity. For positions requiring a security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT & NOTES: 1. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position. 2. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. 3. Education Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience - Completion of a 4-year course of study above high school leading to a bachelor's degree with courses related to the occupation for GS-5 positions. Graduate education or an internship meets the specialized experience required above GS-5 only in those instances where it is directly related to the work of the position. One full year of graduate education meets the requirements for GS-7. Two full years of graduate education or a master's degree meets the requirements for GS-9. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement. Part-time graduate education is creditable in accordance with its relationship to a year of full-time study at the school attended.
