This role provides crucial data insight which informs the overall HSE strategy as well as ensuring we remain legally compliant with accident and incident data processing and reporting.
What you'll be doing
• Ensuring incident data is reported accurately and shared appropriately – this includes:
o major incident notifications to senior mgt
o RIDDOR reporting to the Health and Safety Executive
o Point of contact with Enforcement Authorities
o Classification of Lost Time Injury data
o Liaison with Accident Incident Reporting Group and Employee Assistance Mgt
o Review and classification of industrial disease as required by RIDDOR
• Supporting administration in relation to information requests from the legal / claims / insurance departments
• Delivering key processes (including triage, advice, signposting etc)
• Providing administrative support to Group Health, Safety and Environment Director and HSE senior leadership team:
o Diary management, travel arrangements (UK and overseas), expenses, invoice approval, meeting and hospitality arrangements, other ad hoc requests as required.
o To have a clear understanding of their roles, responsibilities and objectives whilst handling sensitive issues with tact and diplomacy.
o To deal effectively with both internal and external enquiries in a professional manner ensuring that urgent matters are highlighted and/or redirected appropriately.
o To attend meetings/forums, record/distribute accurate minutes and track completion of actions
Skills and Experience
• Good understanding of UK legislation and best practice related to Health and Safety, (eg GDPR, RIDDOR, DSE Regs, Equality Act).
• Experience in working with others to develop and deliver important HSE messages.
• Works independently, organises and plans own work.
• Ability to manage conflicting demands and priorities.
• Ability to identify issues and work with others to find a practical solutions to implement healthy change.
• Relationship management, influencing and strong communication skills.
• Must be patient, compassionate and empathetic and able to manage difficult situations
• Ability to draft concise and accurate statements
