  Minimum Qualifications Permanent Transfer Candidate: Current NYS employee with one year of permanent or contingent-permanent competitive service as a Health Care Surveyor 3, G22, or community Nursing Services Consultant Home Health Services, G22 and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 or the Civil Service Law OR Current NYS employee with one year of permanent or contingent-permanent competitive service in a title G20 or higher and meeting the non-competitive minimum qualifications listed below.Non-Competitive: possession of a license and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State; and two years of post-licensure, specialized professional administrative or professional clinical experience.Substitution: a bachelor's degree in nursing may substitute for one year of post-licensure clinical nursing experience; and a master's degree in nursing may substitute for two years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience.Preferred Qualifications: Must have strong interpersonal, problem solving, decision-making and time management skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all internal and external stakeholders. In addition, the ideal candidate must have excellent writing and editing skills and be able to effectively interpret laws and regulations governing health care facilities and health care providers in New York State.

  Duties Description The Health Care Surveyor Nurse may perform quality assurance review, conduct surveys or complaint investigations of nursing home, hospitals and other health care facilities and providers, or investigate complaints of alleged misconduct on the part of the professional health care providers.
