for long periods of time. Work requires repetitive hand and fingermovements. Work outside in inclement weather including hot, cold, wet,and/or humid conditions for extensive periods of time. Lift, carry, andload up to 50 lbs. Employer is a drug-free workplace. Drug and alcoholtesting is conducted post-offer at the employers expense and is not partof the interview process. Must be 18 years of age or older.
Cultivate, cut, and transplant vegetable, flower and herb seedlings andcuttings within a seedling line; Plant, spray, weed, and water plantsusing hand tools and gardening tools; Prepare soil and growth media;Feel plants\' leaves and note coloring to detect presence of insects ordisease; Inspect plants and bud ties to assess quality; Operate tractorsand machinery to fertilize, cultivate and/or spray; Apply pesticides,herbicides and fertilizers; Haul and spread fill-sand to maintaingreenhouse floors, using wheelbarrows or carts and shovels; Tag trays;assemble trays, pots and caged pots; Push and pull 100 - 460 lb rollingcarts; Lay down and pick up seed flats for delivery or transplant toanother greenhouse; Load and unload racks; Loading plants from thegreenhouse onto the racks/carts and delivering to the staging/loadingarea; Helping unload plants at the greenhouse, that do not meet thequality specifications; Fold and staple corrugated forms to make boxesused for packing horticultural products; Maintain and repair nurserybuildings/greenhouses; Clean work areas, sanitize, and maintain grounds,greenhouses, warehouse, and landscaping; Perform nursery sanitationduties including picking up trash, cleaning bathrooms and sweepingfloors. Work in a standing, fast-paced assembly line for long periods oftime during peak season; Workers who have a valid driver\'s license anddoctor\'s certificate may drive vehicles to transport workers and may beoffered additional hours. Workers who complete an employer paid safetycertification may ride to deliver, load and unload products at marketlocations within a 180-mile radius from work location. Employer mayrequest, but not require, workers to work more than the stated dailyhours and/or on a workers Sabbath or federal holiday. Additional hoursare voluntary. Workers must report to work at designated time and placeeach day. Daily or weekly work schedules may vary due to weather,sunlight, temperature, crop conditions, and other factors. Employer willnotify workers of any change to start time. Workers should expectoccasional periods of little or no work because of weather, crop orother conditions beyond the employer\'s control. These periods can occuranytime throughout the season. Workers may be assigned a variety ofduties on any given day and different tasks on different days.
Work is to be done for long periods of time in the field, when plantsmay be wet with dew and rain, and may be required during light rain,snow, moderate winds, direct sun, high humidity, and extremetemperatures. Allergies to ragweed, goldenrod, insect spray, relatedchemicals, etc. may affect workers ability to perform the job. Workersmust be able to perform the required work with or without reasonableaccommodation. Must wear assigned personal protective equipment whenrequired. Must report for work daily wearing appropriate work clothingand boots or another durable footwear. Casual clothing is not permitted.Workers wearing inappropriate clothing will not be permitted to startwork.
Workers will have an unpaid lunch break when working more than 5 hours.Must report to work at the designated time and place each day. Daily orweekly work sche ules may vary due to weather, sunlight, temperature,crop conditions, and other factors. Employer will notify workers of anychange to start/end times. Employer may request, but not require thatworkers work more than the stated daily hours, on the worker\'s Sabbath,or on federal holidays. Workers may not report for work under theinfluence of alcohol or drugs. Possession or use of illegal drugs oralcohol on company worksites or vehicles is prohibited and will be causefor immediate termination. The work described herein is regular,seasonal full-time work requiring all workers to be available as statedon the standard work schedule, throughout the entire contract period.Employees may experience a temporary reduction in work and/or atemporary work stoppage due to the natural agricultural cycle.
