SUMMARY: Responsible for performing professional accounting duties related to the preparation, maintenance and reporting of financial data. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: This class specification lists the major duties and requirements of the job and is not all-inclusive. Manages and prepares journal entries to ensure proper general ledger coding; including validating accuracy and ensuring that transactions are reporting in accordance with accounting standards. 2. Performs general account analysis and reconciliations of balance sheet accounts. 3. Reviews, approves and processes expense reports for payment. 4. Maintains currency of state tax laws to ensure processes are in place and deadlines are met for sales tax and unclaimed property. 5. Assists in the preparation of Federal, State and Property tax returns and filings, as well as various state requirements including business license, rent and COI requests within required deadlines, ensuring compliance with payment, reporting or other requirements. 6. Assists with month-end and year-end close process and production of corresponding financial statements. 7. Provides recommendations and guidance to management staff in regards to expense management and balance sheets. 8. Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the department's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team. 9. Promotes and supports the overall mission of Pace Analytical by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with customers and staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment. QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and Experience: Associates degree in accounting, or a closely related field; AND two (2) years of professional accounting experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
