SUMMARY:

　　The Senior Formulation Chemist is instrumental in developing automotive chemical and lubricant products from concept to commercialization. Working closely with the Senior R&D Chemist, this role includes designing formulas, conducting hands-on testing, optimizing costs, obtaining label approval, and addressing technical inquiries.

　　ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

　　Design formulas for automotive chemicals, including lubricants, cleaners, RV antifreeze, etc.

　　Collaborate with the team to develop new products.

　　Serve as a product technology expert and enhance existing products.

　　Modify formulations for cost optimization based on test results.

　　Conduct hands-on testing and analyze products.

　　Formulate hand blends and acquire materials.

　　Analyze test data for in-process and finished products.

　　Design, review, and document standard operating procedures for R&D test equipment.

　　Contribute to continuous improvement efforts to reduce costs and increase productivity.

　　Assist in dispositioning non-conforming products and maintain R&D lab equipment.

　　Prepare technical reports, answer inquiries, and review product labels for accuracy.

　　Manage lab supplies, records, and coordinate outside lab testing.

　　Ensure proper disposal of samples and supplies.

　　Adhere to company values, practices, policies, and safety regulations.

　　Maintain open communication with supervisors and travel periodically.

　　REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

　　Proficiency in standard laboratory practices and computer operation.

　　Strong understanding of the automotive industry and fluid formulas.

　　Attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and problem-solving abilities.

　　Efficient management of multiple projects.

　　Independent learning and continuous improvement.

　　Timely and high-quality delivery of work.

　　Safe and responsible work practices.

　　MINIMUM EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND CERTIFICATIONS:

　　Bachelor’s Degree in a science or technical field or at least 2 years of related experience.

　　Formulating experience for automotive products is advantageous.

　　Job Type: Hybrid - typically, 3 days on-site and 2 days remote

　　Location: Council Bluffs, IA

　　Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7-4 or 8-5.

　　Salary range is $80K- $100k, depending on relevant experience
