  Did you know that the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources in Pennsylvania takes care of a staggering 2 million acres of forest land spread across 48 counties? Their dedicated team of environmental professionals works tirelessly to safeguard these lands from wildfires, destructive insects, and invasive ecological diseases. Additionally, they also focus on preserving native plants and ensuring sustainable timber harvesting.

  DESCRIPTION OF WORKAs a Forestry Intern, you will work with foresters, semiskilled laborers, and/or maintenance repairmen for the execution of projects planned by foresters. You will complete various tasks in the areas of timber management, insect and disease control, forest fire protection, and regeneration fencing. In this position, you will learn to utilize various forestry hand tools, learn to use timber tally marks, and learn to use silvicultural and surveying equipment.

  Work Schedule and Additional Information:Full-time internship that will last from 5/01/2024 through 8/30/2024.Work schedule is Tuesday - Thursday 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM and Friday 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM with a 30-minute lunch.Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.You will receive further communication regarding this position via email.   QUALIFICATIONSInternship Requirements:Current full-time enrollment in a two-year degree, bachelor's degree or advanced degree program in one of the following acceptable majors:Forest ManagementForest ScienceAn approved major course which includes a qualifying 24 credit hours of study in the physical, biological and environmental sciences may be acceptable.Freshman year completed.Good academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher).Pennsylvania residency or enrollment at a Pennsylvania college or university.

  Additional Requirements:This position requires possession of a valid Class C non-commercial driver's license.You must be able to perform essential job functions.
