At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in spacefor the benefit of Earth. We're working to develop reusable, safe, andlow-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our diverse team of problem solvers as weadd new chapters to the history of spaceflight!
This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit. To further BlueOrigin's mission of having millions of people living and working in space,we are building the sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew andcargo from Earth to the Lunar Surface. Our Lunar Pathfinder mission willdemonstrate the lander's core capabilities - including the privately fundedBE-7 landing engine, precision landing sensors, and integrated power andpropulsion architecture - on an early New Glenn flight. The team building thisvehicle is rethinking how space systems are designed, with ahigh-performance architecture, efficient reusability, and rapid designiteration. Join our team and pave the road to a permanent lunar presence! As part of a hardworking and growing team of diverse lunar spacecraftdevelopment engineers, you will join our Flight Controls group within theGuidance, Navigation, and Controls (GN&C) section. Yourresponsibilities will include the development of advanced flight controlalgorithms, performing analyses and trade studies, verifying subsystemrequirements, applying Model Based Development practices to build GN&Cflight software, and supporting the full lifecycle of GN&C subsystemdesign through flight completion. We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadershipskills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe humanspaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required!Responsibilities:Apply innovative techniques to control algorithm development to accomplishsophisticated mission objectivesPrototype algorithms in MATLAB/SimulinkConduct early feasibility studies and definition of subsystem and componenttrade spacePerform linear stability analyses using classical and modern approachesCollaborate closely with other subsystems and spacecraft systems engineers tosupport the development of subsystem boundaries, interfaces, and performanceDefine, develop, and implement simulations and tools vital for analysisand verification of subsystem functionalitiesAuto-generate flight software code in a Model Based Development environmentPerform verification and testing, ensuring the subsystem aligns with itsrequirementsSupport hardware-in-the-loop testing, system certification, and flightreadiness activitiesAssist in real-time flight support during mission operations
