The Financial Oversight Analyst Senior position will act as part of theCollege of Arts and Letters (CAL) Financial Team. Acting as the mainfinancial support for the Departments of English and History. This rolewill assist in managing academic unit budgets, financial policycompliance and providing guidance to CAL staff on financial matters. Theselected incumbent will be expected to perform financial research,provide assistance on grant related duties and will report directly tothe Assistant Director, Financial Oversight in the CAL Dean\'s Office.
Financial Guidance & Compliance - 50%
Assist in managing and controlling accounting, budgeting, auditing,and other financial or related functions to ensure financialintegrity for CAL academic/auxiliary units.Control expenditures in accordance with budgeted amounts; reviewsand authorizes purchase of supplies, services and equipment withinlimits set by Department ChairsAdvise staff on financial matters.Keep informed of, interpret, and apply pertinent rules, regulations,policies and procedures set forth by university or outside governingagencies.Participate in internal and external audits; prepare audit workpapers.Assist department staff and faculty in interactions with thefinancial service teams.Review NAU purchasing card transactions.Research & Analysis - 35%
Gather, analyze, and model various scenarios related to departmentexpense tracking to make recommendations or decisions to departmentmanagement to improve the operations of the unit and college.Performs research and analysis to provide administration withfinancial data and recommendations to the CAL Assistant Director,Financial Oversight.Research, analyze and make recommendations regarding resource needsfor staff, capital equipment/improvements, supplies and servicesconsidering budget limitations.Grant Compliance - 10%
Assist grant Principal Investigators with budget preparation,purchasing and hiring requests to ensure compliance with terms ofthe grant.Respond to inquiries and requests from Post Award AccountingServices and Fiscal Compliance.Other - 5%
Other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor\'s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.3-5 years of accounting or finance experience.A combination of related education, experience, and training may beused as an equivalent to the above Minimum Requirements.Preferred Qualifications
Experience in accurate record keeping and attention to detail.Experience in meeting multiple deadlines under time pressure.Higher Education financial accounting and budget planningexperience.Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
