JOB REQUIREMENTS: Overview Uses analytical ability and knowledge ofinternal and external processes to ensure that proper controls existover cash assets and that the general ledger properly reports this assetfor Mercyhealth. Oversees system cash functions and manages externalbanking relationships. Responsibilities Essential Duties andResponsibilities Coordinates, analyzes, and recommends improvements inthe manual and automated processes for the receipt, deposit, andrecording of cash for all Mercyhealth entities, with the exception ofMercyCare. Ensures external records agree with the various generalledgers. Plans and implements cash functions at new sites acrossmultiple entities. Oversees training of new staff assisting with cashfunctions and prepares materials for orientation of newcashiers/receptionists. Maintains procedure manuals for cash portion ofcashiering function and for cash recording in Finance. Works withInternal Audit to ensure procedures are adequate to ensure properinternal and external controls. Works with patient accounting staff toensure that system interfaces to the general ledger are appropriate andaccurate. Monitors cash balances and recommends cash transfers asneeded. Analyzes bank processes and recommends changes to increaseinterest, decrease fees, or optimize efficiencies across Mercyhealthspectrum of entities.
