Field Service Technician
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
To service (install, maintain calibrate and repair) customer coordinate measuring machines predominately at customer site in a professional, safe, cost effective manner.
*PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: *
Demonstrate strong and efficient troubleshooting skills on CMM's utilizing mechanical and electronic aptitude
Provide the highest level of customer service and timely responsiveness to all Wenzel customers
Timely & Accurate documentation of administrative paperwork & customer related requests
The ability to work independently in a high pressure, fast paced and innovative environment
Travel as necessary to fulfill these duties. Travel is expected to be approximately 80% for this position, but could be as much as 100% at peak times.
Must be willing to perform standby 24/7 emergency service on a rotating schedule. Travel duties include driving/flying to and from customer sites, airports and other locations to perform job duties.
Excellent communication and service aptitude is a must
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
AS/BS in Electronics or Engineering is helpful but not mandatory, Industrial mechanics or Military mechanical training also desireable
Previous experience installing troubleshooting, repairing industrial machines and computer systems
Previous CMM installation and troubleshooting experience is a PLUS
Experience troubleshooting Windows OS, and programming such as C, C++, HTML are preferred
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Install, maintain calibrate and repair customers gaging equipment, predominately at customer's site
Provide operator orientation on the equipment with training on use and safety as well as basic maintenance.
Maintain/develop positive customer relationships
Provide recommendations to customers about the repair/replacement of their machine and its components
Provide customer feedback for customer, including sales leads for equipment, software, maintenance contracts, etc.
Submit expense and service reports by date/time required weekly according to company policy
Travel up to 99% of the time -- both domestic and international
Provide in-house phone support as needed
Support in-office work activities such as rebuilding machines, and assisting with packaging/shipping as needed.
RELATIONSHIPS
Report directly to Service Manager
Work closely with internal service personnel and communicate frequently with other service engineers and office staff to facilitate scheduling, billing, and completion of jobs
Work with customer (typically quality tech or quality manager), Reps, Sales, Software, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering along with shop personal

BACKGROUND AND SKILL
Broad background in a variety of skills is needed; Mechanical, electrical and computer skills.
The ability to be highly adaptable and flexible in dealing with the variety of different control systems and computer systems used in the customer's facility.
Effectively perform time management with minimal supervision and the ability to communicate well in an outside training environment.
