To meetminimum acceptable performance standards when irrigating, the workermust, after a 10-day conditioning period, move an average of at least 4840-foot sections of 3-inch pipe or 44 40-foot sections of 4-inch pipeper hour under normal working conditions.
Worker will be required to perform a variety of duties related to theproduction of barley, grain, hay, triticale, alfalfa, corn, beans andpotatoes.
The majority of the work activities during the overall contract period,however, will be related to general farm work/irrigation/cropproduction.
General Farm Work will include the following responsibilities: maintain,drive, attach and operate farm implements/tractors/equipment to tillsoil, plant, cultivate, fertilize and harvest crops; assist operators tomake minor mechanical adjustments and repairs on farm machinery; may mixand/or spray chemicals (according to appropriate restrictive use laws,when/if applicable); remove undesirable and excess growth from crops orfarm grounds; remove rocks from field; paint farm structures;maintain/repair fencing; perform general clean up of farm areas; drive,load/unload Ag exempt, non CDL semi/10-wheel trucks; transport cropsfrom field to storage and/or market; hoist/stack bales of hay ontowagon/truck; move alfalfa/straw from fields to storage area; help/assistwith fueling of harvest trucks/tractors/equipment; operate motor bike orall-terrain vehicle in the course of performing duties; workerspossessing the proper licensure may be asked to transport other farmworkers.
Irrigation duties will include the following:
Hand lines: connect pipes; check alignment of pipe and adjust for properwater distribution; attach lines to water supply; turn on pump; turnvalves to start flow of water; disassemble lines and carry pipes acrossfields at specified intervals; move pipes through freshly irrigatedcrops and/or plowed fields where mud may be deep at times; lift andcarry pipe sections weighing approximately 40 pounds on a sustainedbasis.
Pivots: operate, maintain and repair system.
To meet minimum acceptable performance standards when irrigating, theworker must, after a 10-day conditioning period, move an average of atleast 48 40-foot sections of 3-inch pipe or 44 40-foot sections of4-inch pipe per hour under normal working conditions. Job duties mayrequire a split shift, such as 4:00 to 8:00 AM and 6:00 to 10:00 PM, aswell as evening and/or night shifts spanning two calendar days due tocrop demands. Work hours may vary and there may be periods when littleor no work will be available due to weather, time of year, and therequirements of the cropping program.
Instruction, training, and general supervision will be provided by thefarm operator or a designated employee. However, the worker must performrequired duties without close supervision and listen to, understand, andfollow simple instructions of the employer or supervisor. The workerwill be required to return worn out tools, supplies, and equipmentbefore new ones will be provided. Most duties are performed out of doorsand entail exposure to heat, cold, dust, rain, and other environmentalconditions common in fields, including mosquitoes during certainseasons. The worker must crouch, bend, and lift and carry items weighingup to 100 pounds in the course of performing required activities.
The worker may be offered work seven days a week, as farm work must beperformed seven days a week. The worker will be required, however, towork the minimum number of hours indicated. The worker may be offeredmore than the specif ed hours per day, but is only required to work thehours specified. The worker may be requested, but will not be required,to work on his/her Sabbath and/or on Federal holidays.
