The worker will perform general farm labor dutiesand irrigation for a row crop including onion and vegetable seed,onions, carrot seed, seed corn, wheat, alfalfa seed, beans and corn. Thelifting requirement for this position is 60 pounds. Workers with a validdrivers license may drive vehicles to transport crop, equipment andworkers.

　　Specific Job Requirements:

　　Irrigation Duties

　　Hand Lines:

　　1.Connect pipes

　　2.Check the alignment of pipe and adjust for proper water distribution

　　3.Attach lines to water supply

　　4.Turn on pump

　　5.Turn valves to start flow of water

　　6.Disassemble lines and carry pipes across fields at specified intervals

　　7.Move pipes through freshly irrigated crop and/or plowed fields wheremud may be deep at times

　　8.Lift and carry pipe sections weighing approximately 60 pounds on asustained basis

　　Flood Irrigation:

　　1.Lift gate inside of flooded irrigation ditch/pipe permitting water toflow into bordered section of field

　　2.Shovel and pack dirt in low spots of embankment of cut trenches inhigh areas to direct water flow

　　3.Close gates in ditch/pipe when bordered section is flooded

　　4.Open gate or connect pipe to underground pipe system that releaseswater flow into reservoir or ditch

　　5.Siphon water from flooded reservoir or ditch to channel water intodesignated areas

　　6.Shovel or hoe soil to clear ditches/furrows and build embankments toappropriately channel water

　　7.Mix and apply proper solutions to fill holes/cracks in pipes, ditches,and spillways, and make minor repairs to metal, concrete, and woodenframeworks in pipe and ditch valves and gates.

　　Drip Irrigation:

　　1.Workers will lay drip tape and remove drip tape in fields during thegrowing season. They will inspect, monitor, and repair drip systemdaily.

　　Pivot Irrigation

　　1.Push on switch that activates circle sprinkler system

　　2.Turn on/off pivots

　　3.Learn and master operating a pivot

　　4.If a pivot is stuck, get it unstuck and in operating condition

　　5.Roll up/unroll pivot hoses

　　6.Unplug plugged up nozzles

　　7.Unplug plugged up hoses

　　8.Replace broken nozzles and hoses

　　9.Maintain operation of a pivot at optimum level

　　Other Irrigation Duties:

　　1.Remove pipes/wheel lines from storage and lay out/place inpredetermined patterns in fields

　　2.Lubricate, adjust, repair, and replace parts such as sprinkler headsand drive chains using hand tools

　　3.Observe revolving sprinklers and adjust to ensure proper operation anduniform distribution of water

　　4.Disassemble, service, and store pipe/mainlines/wheel lines afterirrigation season

　　5.To meet minimum acceptable performance standards when irrigating, theworker must, after a 10-day conditioning period, move an average of atleast 48 40-foot sections of 3-inch pipe per hour under normal workingconditions

　　6.Repairing and maintaining pivot drop hoses, laying out and picking up3\" hand lines, replacing nozzles and sprinklers on hand lines and pivotdrop hoses, laying out and collecting siphon tubes

　　a.Help build, maintain, repair and remove irrigation systems (Ditches,pivots, drip systems, hand lines, gated pipe).

　　Planting

　　1.Field maintenance and weeding using hands, machinery, and sprayers

　　2.Loading seed into planters

　　3.Walking behind planters to insure proper procedure

　　4.Operating equipment for the use of planting

　　Onion Harvest

　　1.Culling onions

　　2.Riding on harvester

　　3.Binning onions during the harvest/unloading process

　　4.Maintenance of bins and transport of bins to appropriate storagefacilities.

　　Additional Duties

　　1.Operate or maintain equipment used in agricultural production andfield preparation such as tractors, irrigation equipment, 4-wheelers,non-CDL, farm exempt trucks, and other commonly use equipment inagriculture.

　　2.Workers may also clear debris and garbage from fields andclean/maintain farm buildings, structures, equipment, and work areas

　　3.Load and mix chemicals in addition to operating tractors pulling airblast sprayers.

　　4.Install monitor, maintain and repair the irrigation system for aspecified area of the fields.

　　5.Spray fertilizer or pesticide solutions to control insects, fungus andweed growth, and diseases, using hand sprayers, tractors, ATV orbackpack sprayers

　　6.May operate, maintain and repair tractors, and farm machinery

　　7.Assist with farm building/field maintenance and repairs, includingcleaning/organizing main shop, farm building and grounds (misc.yardwork)

　　8.Remove weeds from all crops using a shovel, hoe or hands, as well as,weed burning with portable propane torch

　　9.Perform planting and harvest duties for all crops.

　　10.Help with Leafcutter bees, boards, trays and houses. Move bee housesto and from fields with pickups and small tractors.

　　11.Operate forklift, skid steer and backhoe

　　12. De-tassel corn.

　　The anticipated hours listed represent the normal work schedule. Due tothe nature of these crops, weather, and the requirement to send crops tocustomers when needed, it is the prevailing practice to work more ordifferent hours than those listed
