Duties include participating inirrigation activities including laying pipe, walking length ofirrigation pipe to puncture it at set intervals, setting up andoperating irrigation equipment, clearing and

　　maintaining concrete-lined irrigation ditches, repairing irrigationditches by hand, operating well motors, operating and maintainingpivots, draining excess water from fields, and monitoring fields tocheck on and maintain adequate water supply to crops; receiving crop forstorage at grain storage facility; disposing of spoiled grain;transporting grain from fields to grain bins; loading and unloadinggrain into trucks while keeping grain level; operating augers and grainconveying equipment; monitoring grain moisture levels; preparing scaletickets; and shoveling grain. Manual duties include hand planting, handweeding, hand harvesting small plots of organic heirloom crops;re-stacking hay bales when necessary; performing post-harvest cleaningand processing of crops which may involve assisting in the operation ofan air-screening machine, a gravity table, a destoner, a polisher, andan optical color sorter; loading seed into planters; properly mixingchemicals; loading chemicals into sprayers; rouging fields and usinghand tools to remove undesirable plant varieties, trash, and otherobjects from fields; concrete ditch repairs as necessary; installing andrepairing fencing; performing general maintenance, repairs and/orclean-up of storage sheds, pivot points, buildings, barns and all farmequipment; ensuring operational areas are organized and well maintained;using hand tools and equipment to repair, clean and maintain farmvehicles, machinery and specialized machinery and agriculturalequipment; regularly servicing equipment; and spreading manure.
