Position summary: Responsible for engineering design using knowledge of general engineering principles and practices to interpret, organize, execute and coordinate assignments with limited supervision. Acts as a technical advisor to less experienced CADD Technicians, Designers, and Design Engineers.
Essential functions and responsibilities
Plan, schedule, conduct or coordinate detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope
Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography and other topographical or geologic data to plan projects
Perform design computations
Design projects in accordance with client specifications and guidelines, using design software and drawing tools
Develop construction cost estimates
Assist in the preparation of engineering documents for advertisement and construction
Prepare and compile contract plans, specifications, estimates and reports
Manage project sub-consultants and in-house support disciplines
Develop extra work order requests and open-end contract task proposals
Prepare proposals as required
Attend meetings with clients and develop client relationships
Coordinate with internal team members to ensure project completion by the defined deadline and established quality
Perform field / site visits

Required Experience
Bachelor's degree in ocean engineering or a related field from an ABET accredited engineering program
5-10 years' experience in a specialized technical discipline
Experience in building, supervising, managing, and leading teams, operating in pressure situations and creating company-customer relationships.
Leadership experience

Experience working with local clients at the county and state level
Experience in providing consult recommendations to clients
Working Conditions
Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required as needed.
