JOB REQUIREMENTS: POSITION SPECIFICS Title: Exercise Instructor FTE: PerDiem Schedule: Variable Holiday Rotation: None Weekend Rotation: None OnCall Requirements: None POSITION SUMMARY Responsible for leading safeand effective classes, with appropriate variety and progression Providesinstruction, coaching and supervision to the participants duringscheduled group exercise activities. POSITION TECHNICALRESPONSIBILITIES 1. Observe, practice, research or study as necessary toacquire or update skills/knowledge for each class. 2. Prepareappropriate lesson plans for each class. 3. Arrive early enough to setup equipment and greet participants prior to each class. 4. Return allequipment to appropriate storage locations, and ensure area is neat andclean before leaving. 5. Perform walk-through cleanup of locker roomafter class. 6. Follow procedure for finding substitute instructor inevent of expected absence. 7. Assist with obtaining and updating medicalhistory information, emergency contact information and photos for eachparticipant. 8. Report equipment and facility failures to supervisor. 9.Maintain current CPR certification and renew other certifications, asrequired. 10. Provide safe, effective exercise classes with appropriatevariety and progression. 11. Motivate participants and strive forparticipation retention of 100%. 12. Be aware of the medical history ofeach participant and modify instruction accordingly. 13. Begin and endclasses on time. 14. Provide an educational component to class. 15. Beobservant and sensitive of participant\'s needs and safety. 16. Maintainaccurate attendance report for each class. 17. Make necessaryannouncements to keep participants informed of registration policychanges, etc. 18. Handle on site customer concerns and complaints;involve supervisor as appropriate. 19. Attend training sessions andstaff meetings. 20. Participate in performance review process. 21.Attend workshops and trainings, as available.
