Career Opportunity:The Environmental Supervisor is responsible for safely leading and developing a team of environmental operators and environmental professionals while working towards helping achieve Nucors goal of becoming the world's safest steel company. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to leading safety initiatives; growing and developing the team; working with and building relationships across departments to ensure a mutual understanding of environmental compliance requirements; implementation and operation of environmental programs in addition to environmental department activities and other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in environmental, civil, chemical engineering or related degree or equivalent years of applicable experience Demonstrated ability to lead both internal and external teams in a timely and cost-effective manner with focus on attaining goals. Demonstrated understanding of environmental laws pertaining to industry and the ability to manage an EMS to satisfy regulatory requirements and company objectives. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with internal and external customers. Solid understanding of environmental compliance, permitting and ability to serve as a liaison for State and Federal environmental agencies. Objective reasoning, professional public image, persuasive speaker, and the ability to communicate well with a variety of audiences.How you will impact Nucor:
Division Compliance: Lead the division in implementing company environmental policy and in developing sustainable, innovative, and cost-effective solutions. Environmental Permits: Assist in the environmental permitting process for the division including evaluating compliance costs and effects of proposed environmental permits and/or changed permit conditions, assisting in negotiations with permitting agencies, and representing the facility before regulatory agencies. Environmental Awareness Program: Lead the execution of the divisions environmental strategy with a focus on building relationships with operations/ maintenance/ administrative departments and continuous cost reduction. Environmental Laws and Planning Activities: Keep the leadership team informed of pertinent existing environmental laws and regulations while assessing the impact on the facility and operations. Regulatory and Community Outreach: Develop and maintain key regulatory and community contacts to facilitate beyond division compliance objectives. Management Team: Participate with all other division functions by sharing technical expertise, support, and specialized knowledge and skills to achieve division goals and objectives. Interpersonal Contacts: This position requires frequent and routine interaction with division teammates, managers, and supervisors. Contacts include teammates in Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, and Accounting dealing with environmental compliance and pollution prevention traissues.
