We have operated in Colorado for more than 100years and today have mining and milling operations near Leadville, Kremmlingand Empire. Our Climax mine is located between Frisco and Leadville. OurHenderson mine and mill are an hour's drive apart - separated by theContinental Divide and a 15-mile conveyor system (10 miles isunderground). The Henderson mine is about 50 miles west of Denver and 10miles west of Empire, and the mill is located between Dillon and Kremmling.
DescriptionUnder close supervision, assists in providing technical support and guidancefor environmental projects and programs at assigned site.
Installs, operates, and maintains environmental and emission monitoringinstruments and testing equipment. Analyzes data for compliance withregulatory requirementsEvaluates and assesses environmental risk and develops programs for riskreductionCollaborates in recommending appropriate action to management in compliancewith regulationsReviews and/or Prepares and maintains detailed records and files ofenvironmental data and communicationsEvaluates and administers contracts with vendors for the provision ofservices and equipmentMaintains basic working knowledge of national, regional and localenvironmental, occupational health, and other applicable regulations.Maintains knowledge of site environmental policies and proceduresMay provide leadership to less experienced engineers and techniciansMay serve as Project Manager or technical expert on small to medium-sizedenvironmental projects (e.g., compliance, remediation, or reclamation)Leads or participates in regular audits and inspections of operations areasfor purposes of ensuring compliance with site environmental policies,procedures and requirements of the Environmental Management SystemCoordinates the timely recycling and disposition of materials and othercompany assets in compliance with applicable legal and other requirementsTracks and reports the recycling and disposition of materials and othercompany assets as directedMinimum Qualifications include but are not limited to:
Associate's Degree in Environmental Science or closely related area(can substitute an additional five (5) years of experience in mining ormineral processing operations for the degree requirement) and
Seven (7) years' experience in environmental monitoring, samplingand reporting as an Environmental Technician , Specialist or in a closelyrelat
Additional certification or licensure appropriate to the job may berequired or preferred: (US Examples include: HAZWOPER, Method 9,DOT, EMS Auditor, Asbestos, Water Treatment Operator, or CHMM.)
Preferred Qualifications:
Colorado Certified Operator in Responsible Charge (ORC) at or above thefollowing levels or ability to obtain certification within 1 year ofemployment*Industrial Wastewater Treatment Class B*Water Treatment Class B*Water Distribution Class 1*Domestic Wastewater Treatment Class C*Domestic Wastewater Collection Class 1Demonstration of critical thinking skills such as analyzing operationaldata to determine changes and improvements for more efficient operationCan independently maintain a compliance schedule and associated samplingobligationsExperience supervising personnel (preferably water operators related towater treatment facilities)Experience with internal and external stakeholder engagement such asmaintenance departments and regulatory agencies, respectivelyIdeal candidate can demonstrate definitive decisions for necessaryoperational or mechanical adjustments to stakeholdersExperience with standard operating procedures (SOPs) for optimal systemoperation and ability to develop or update existing doc mentsBe able to provide cross-training to operatorsBe able to continue to stay informed about the latest operational andregulatory requirements and should maintain their licenses/certifications tooperate the system more effectively and ensure system complianceExperience assisting in the planning associated with construction,operation, and maintenance of a water or wastewater facilityAbility to support other Colorado operations as neededBENEFITS:Housing Stipend (Up to $450 per month)Relocation assistance401k with company matchMedical/Dental/Vision (Start on day 1 of employment)Pay range: $79k-$109k
