Amentum has an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Health & Safety Specialist to join our team in McLean, VA. The Safety Specialist will develop, coordinate, and implement Occupational Safety and Health Programs. Will ensure compliance with all OSHA and related compliance activities including identifying and managing risks and will be responsible for incident reporting and investigation, conducting inspections and assessments, and record keeping in an operations and maintenance setting. Responsible for the implementation of ES&H training/education programs. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI w/Poly US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Top Secret/SCI w/Poly Clearance.

　　MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

　　Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

　　Responsible for complex technical work in a wide range of environmental, safety, and health disciplines to achieve compliance with ES&H standards along with federal and state regulatory requirements.

　　Develop, implement, and maintain safety and health programs, systems, and procedures.

　　Responsible to monitor and initiate action to prevent hazards in the workplace.

　　Recommend continuous improvement processes with designs, procedures, and operating equipment to minimize hazards.

　　Assist in facilitating employee safety training, emergency preparedness, and manage the quality of the programs presented.

　　This position will interface with government personnel and subcontractors.

　　MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

　　Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Studies, Biology or Chemistry or equivalent.

　　Must have 7 years of ES&H experience.

　　Must have experience in Construction or General Industry Safety.

　　Knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR, 1910, 1926.

　　Safety specialists are expected to complete ES&H professional requirements including but not limited to Certified Safety Professional (CSP), the Construction and Health Safety Technician (CHST), and/or Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST).

　　Must be a US Citizen.

　　Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Top Secret clearance .

　　Active TS/SCI w/Poly preferred

　　Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

　　Typical office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 20 pounds, constant sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must possess planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines.
