Job Description
SGS is looking for an experienced EHS Manager with a passion forworkplace safety, operational excellence, and a desire to be part of ahigh-performing team. We want a true safety culture change agent topartner with our network across the US.
As the Environmental, Health, and Safety Manager, you will partner withour Life Sciences line of business in managing risk, reducing loss,applying the global Operational Integrity Management System, and meetingor exceeding relevant local regulations. This critical role understandsthe relationship between leadership, safety culture, and operationalneeds and their combined influence on the success of the organization.They will carefully monitor the EHS related performance of the LifeSciences group and, using exceptional EHS planning, communication, andtechnical skills, will work with management and staff to proactivelydeliver the desired results, while minimizing the impact of unplannedevents.
Ensure the maintenance of continuous \"audit ready\" state ofcompliance with SGS and governmental HSE Standards.Responsible for the dissemination and implementation of global SGSOI Standards, Policies, and strategy. Aids in the development andimplementation of programs to meet these standards, policies andstrategies as required.Keeps up to date with any relevant changes to health and safetylegislation, client requirements and best practices.Communicates these changes effectively by utilizing multiple meansof distribution to ensure the message reaches the intended audiencein a timely manner.Conducts OI Audits to assess status of OI programs, generates auditreports and discusses findings and strategies needed for compliancewith the supported Line of Business.Ensures training needs for all positions within the line of businessare identified, in particular as they relate to compliance withinternal expectations and of federal regulations and works with therelevant management to deliver this training internally or throughexternal sources.Assist the Industrial Hygiene Manager with the implementation ofComprehensive Industrial Hygiene Exposure Assessment and MonitoringPlans by coordinating and, when needed, participating in IH hazardidentification and assessment activities.Leads the effective implementation and utilization of riskidentification, evaluation and management processes. Aids relevantbusiness partners and locations to perform Job Hazard Analyses andrecommends effective mitigation strategies using the hierarchy ofhazard controls to reduce the risk to ALARP levels.Leads incident investigation of all HSE related incidents and nearmisses within the line of business utilizing formal tools toidentify root causation and develop appropriate corrective andpreventive actions.Works with the line of business management and staff to implementthe corrective and preventive actions in a systematic manner.hares lessons from outside the line of business to ensureorganization is perpetually aligned with the latest risk mitigationstrategies and events.Collaborates with the SGS Occupational Medical Director and BusinessManagement Team to ensure effective injury case management processis fully implemented, well understood and functioning as desired.Serves as the Business HSE/OI technical expert, providing technicalexpertise/coaching as needed in all areas and initiatives of thefunction including capital project review and risks managementassociated with non-capital modifications.Supports the SGS Global OI & Security Program by implementingstandards and best practicesAdheres to internal standards, policies and procedures.Performs other duties as assigned.Qualifications
Education and Experience
Required:
Associate\'s degree or higher in Occupational Health and Safety orrelated field AND5+ years of experience in practical OHS advisory capacity in arelated industryExperience resolving health, safety, and environmental questions andconcerns in a timely mannerExperience with risk management, incident investigation, programdevelopment, behavioral-based safety, job hazard analysis, and rootcause analysisPreferred:
