Job Description
BAE Systems is seeking anEnvironmental Engineerto support at its site in Radford, Virginia. Under the direction of the Environmental Manager, you will be responsible for monitoring and managing environmental matters at the facility. In the role of the Environmental Engineer, you will be accountable for permitting, recordkeeping, reporting and ensuring compliance with all regulatory and company requirements. You will also be responsible for continuous improvement of the environmental management systems, which includes but is not limited to: water and wastewater activities, air permitting activities, and solid/hazardous waste management.
Prepares facility environmental permit applications or renewals;
Obtains and evaluates data needed for various environmental reporting;
Provides oversight and management of environmental contractors in the field during legacy or new projects;
Integrates environmental compliance initiatives into the organization;
Identifies and develops corrective actions to address environmental program deficiencies;
Provides consultation to the Environmental Manager and site leadership as needed on environmental matters.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Must have strong understanding of wastewater treatment systems and management practices.
Typically requires a bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering or a related science and four (4) years experience, or the overall equivalent;
Formal environmental compliance training including remediation, solid waste (RCRA), air permitting, wastewater and water pollution regulations;
Experience with Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001);
Knowledgeable in Hazardous Materials Management;
Familiar with chemistry of hazardous substances and chemicals for the evaluation of materials for facility use;
Experience with Hazardous Waste management regulations (RCRA);
Computer literacy in MS Office Suite and industry-related software;
Effective written and verbal communication skills;
Negotiation skills and ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with regulators;
Ability to balance multiple projects and changing priorities;
Able to support "boots on the ground."
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Advanced degree;
Proficiency in manipulating and analyzing data in multiple sources and formats;
Project management skills and experience;
Water treatment system operations and equipment technologies;
Experience in a Chemical Manufacturing facility;
Experience with DOD and Government Owned Contractor Operated facilities;
Explosives experience.
Wastewater Treatment Operator Certification.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $83900 - $142600

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
