　　Job Description

　　This position is for an Entry Level Shipfitter.

　　Shipfitters are responsible for fabrication, assembling and erection of metal parts in the construction of marine vessels. Shipfitters utilize torches, metric and standard tape measures, hammers, levels, welding equipment, plus other job specific tooling. Shipfitting requires the use of measuring devices, basic math and reading in their daily tasking. Skills training will be provided to all candidates.

　　Shipfitters will be required to work either day or night (various shifts) dependent upon the number of ships under construction at any one point in time. Shipyard production areas involve working at different heights, confined spaces, all weather conditions. Ingalls stresses the practice of working safely in all situations. Safety training will be provided to candidates.

　　Entry level position. No experience needed.
