DEFINITION Assigned to the Engineering Division of the Public WorksDepartment, this position performs a variety of tasks in the office andfield. Engineering Technician II: The Engineering Technician II performsa variety of paraprofessional engineering services related to design,inspection, survey and development activities. This position reports tothe Design and Construction Manager. Supervision is not normally aresponsibility of this position. Engineering Technician III: TheEngineering Technician III performs a variety of complexparaprofessional engineering services related to design, inspection,survey and development activities. This position reports to the Designand Construction Manager. Supervision is not normally a responsibilityof this position, but may act as lead worker for temporarily assignedemployees, or on special projects. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Education andexperience requirements listed are minimum standards. Other equivalentcombinations of education, certifications, training, and experience maybe considered. Education: Tech II: Graduation from high school orcompletion of the equivalent GED Certificate. Tech III: Associatesdegree from an accredited institution in engineering technology orrelated field. Bachelor\'s degree from an accredited institution inengineering technology or related field is desirable. Fundamentals ofEngineering (FE) Certificate is desirable. Experience: Tech II: Twoyears of progressively responsible experience necessary to perform thejob effectively. Tech III: Three years of progressively responsibleexperience necessary to perform the job effectively. Any satisfactoryequivalent combination of experience, education and training sufficientto successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as thoselisted above. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS & CERTIFICATIONS Possession of avalid driver\'s license by date of hire. New employees establishingresident status in the State of Oregon must obtain an Oregon driver\'slicense within 30 days. Completion of a background investigation to thesatisfaction of the City.
