  The Work You Will Do:

  As an Engineering Specialist II you will be tasked on the use, management, and creation of usable GIS products to be used by the RCP program staff.

  Pay: $42,776.81- $44,250.00 commensurate experience

  Your Specific Responsibilities:

  Required tasks may include assisting with a variety of GIS requests, prepare maps, rectify aerial imagery, perform analysis and calculations, digitize legal descriptions, plot maps, publish layers to our Enterprise GIS Library, troubleshoot GIS software, and provide one-on-one training to program staff.

  Responsible for assisting in the coordination, planning, development, maintenance and archival of policies, procedures, practices, and methods for the utilization of the Geographic Information System (GIS) technology for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, Office of Resilience and Coastal Protection.

  Prepare required documentation for the implementation of new GIS layers, or QA/QC of spatial data. Devise efficient workflows to implement new GIS layers, assist in the upload survey forms and aerials images to mobile devices, and assist in the development, updates, and maintenance of interactive web apps and story maps.

  Assist in acquisition and processing of new data including aerial photography, satellite imagery, LiDAR datasets, conventional topographic and bathymetric data, biological and physical monitoring data, acquisition and delivery systems, presentation of existing data.

  Perform other duties as assigned.

  Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  Knowledge of concepts, terminology, and techniques related to surveying, mapping and cartography, geodesy, and engineering support as it applies to coastal systems.

  Knowledge of and skills in ESRI GIS-related software including but not limited to ArcGIS Pro, Survey123 Connect, Field Maps, ArcGIS Experience Builder, ERDAS.

  Knowledge of the general functions for spatial analysis, 3D analysis.

  Knowledge of general geodatabase management, SQL programing, and metadata writing.

  Knowledge of and skill in ArcGIS Online applications including but not limited to web maps, hosted feature services, web apps, dashboards, story maps, ArcGIS Notebooks or Jupyter Notebooks.

  Ability to design workflow charts and/or process information logically.

  Ability to identify complex workflows that would benefit from the use of custom scripts or add-ins.

  Ability to create and configure custom field data collection forms with the use of web GIS platforms.

  Ability to process, analyze and create GIS products using coastal shoreline survey data, aerial photography, LiDAR data, beach project data, and media archives.

  Ability to communicate technical information effectively, orally and in writing, to users and information technology personnel.

  Ability to work independently and in a group setting.

  Ability to determine work priorities, assign work and ensure proper completion of work assignments.

  Minimum Qualifications:

  Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college; or any combination of post-secondary education or verifiable related experience, as described above, for a total of 4 years.

  A valid driver’s license.
