Location: North Charleston, South Carolina
ICL Specialty Fertilizers has two manufacturing plants near the Charleston, South Carolina area; one in North Charleston and one in Summerville. This position will report to both sites for the spring and summer semesters. The facilities manufacture controlled release fertilizer brands Osmocote®, Agroblen® and Agrocote®.
Semester(s) Offered: Summer/Fall (May – December 2024)
Scope: The position is intended for a self-motivated individual. Someone interested in all aspects of how a manufacturing facility operates. There will be involvement in capital projects from design to install, maintenance, production, scrap recovery, contractor oversight, and environmental improvements. In this role, you will be involved in maintenance planning/scheduling as well as process improvements. This job will include getting quotes, managing contractors, lean manufacturing principles, working with the employees on the floor, and ensuring overall safety is encompassed.

Assist with identifying improvements and optimizing processes through changes to equipment, systems, practices and procedures
Assist with identifying opportunities, developing and coordinating plant projects to improve process capabilities, safety and competitive position
Coordinate troubleshooting, de-bottlenecking and plant tests with other personnel
Assist with performing technical and economic evaluations of alternative processes and determine relative costs compared to existing processes
Assist with monitoring environmental regulations and performance against regulations
Participate in plant safety activities including maintenance planning
What skills and experience do I need to be successful in this role?
Pursuing a B.S. degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
Completed sophomore year in college
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization
Ability to set priorities, manage multiple projects and demonstrate strong attention to detail
Highly motivated and eager to learn
Strong computer skills
Ability to relocate if not local
