Job Overview
The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - Vascular Access works as a memberof a multi-disciplinary team to provide emergent/urgent patient care inaccordance with Children's Hospital Colorado's (CHCO) mission. Thejob functions under the medical direction of the Clinical Program Manager andEMS Medical Director. The EMT - Vascular Access will provide care under thedirection of a physician; advanced practice provider; registered nurse;and or CHCO leadership within the scope of practices as dictated byChildren's Hospital Colorado training, competencies, and guidelines.The EMT - Vascular Access will assist all different areas of the hospital toinclude:Inpatient and Outpatient areas.Inserting IVs - With or without UltrasoundDifficult Lab Draws/EKGsAssist PICC Nurses with sterile procedures

Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent, and graduation from anaccredited/certified Emergency Medical Technician program (one of thefollowing required)Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with IV certificationAdvanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT)ParamedicMilitary/Combat Medic Specialist TrainingExperience: One (1) year peripheral IV experience.Certification(s):Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers and relevant lifesupport certification as determined at position level.BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR forthe Professional Rescuer or ASHI Basic Life Support for Health Providers withcard in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixmonths from date of hire.State of Colorado Emergency Medical Technician certification required.EMTs only - IV Certification required.If you are an AEMT, Paramedic, or have completed Military/Combat MedicSpecialist training, a separate IV certification is not required.This position may require a BLS certifi ation from the American HeartAssociation.
