The Emeritus Registered Nurse (E-RN) uses accumulated knowledge from the course of a career to work at the bedside engaged in direct care to support clinical nurses including those new to practice nurses. Preferably, the E-RN will work on the unit they were formerly assigned to or another area of interest with similar skill sets based on competency. E-RN will provide bedside support to nursing team members in specific areas of safety, quality, patient satisfaction, and team member engagement. The E-RN will work modified shifts (4 hours) to leverage expertise and knowledge and provide respite for nurses during the workday. Additionally, the E-RN will provide mentorship, engagement, and support to the unit team. Priority should be given to direct patient and care team support. Requests and assignments will be done in collaboration with nurse leader. 12 + years of Registered Nursing Required. Retired from a full or part time nursing career. Associate's or Diploma, degree in nursing required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing Preferred. NC RN or Multistate RN License Required. Certification in Basic Life Support required. Bilingual English/Spanish a plus! Must have strong communication and listening skills, be professional and team oriented and have the ability to handle multiple demands simultaneously.
