  About WSDOTWashington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is the steward of an integrated, multimodal transportation system that helps to ensure people and goods move safely and efficiently throughout the state. In addition to building, maintaining, and operating the state highway system, WSDOT operates the largest ferry system in the nation, manages the world's longest floating bridge, and recently completed the world's widest tunneling project. The OpportunityWSDOT is currently seeking an Emergency Management Training & Exercise Lead in Olympia, WA. This position is responsible for ensuring that WSDOT is ready and able to respond to and recover from any disaster or emergency by managing the Training and Exercise Program for the Office of Emergency Management. In this role, you will provide strategic leadership and support in the development, delivery, and maintenance a statewide emergency exercise program compliant with Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program and the National Incident Management System. In addition, you will conduct disaster and emergency preparedness training for WSDOT employees. This position also serves in Command and General Staff positions in the HQ Emergency Operation Center (EOC) as a State Agency Liaison to the Washington State Emergency Management Division, and as the WSDOT representative the State EOC. This position contributes to WSDOT's mission by ensuring the planning and preparations are in-place to allow the agency to continue to prepare for and operate during and after emergencies and disaster situations. What to ExpectAmong the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, you will:

  Manage the WSDOT Office of Emergency Management (OEM) Training and Exercise Program.Ensure WSDOT's readiness for response to a disaster or major incident. Plan, coordinate, direct, and deliver training in emergency management-related functions, National Incident Management System (NIMS)* *concepts, and all facets of EOC operations across WSDOT EOCs compliant with Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP).Create, conduct, and/or evaluate emergency exercises for WSDOT staff using the HSEEP.Manage the WSDOT Emergency Management Working Group consisting of members identified by all regions and divisions who assist with emergency management plan updates.Plan, coordinate, and develop action plans, and implement program changes.Collaborate with other state agencies and participates in meetings, workgroups, committees, exercise design and updating state emergency plans.Manage and deliver training for Incident Management Team in emergency management related functions and operations, NIMS concepts and fundamental EOC procedures, to include: EOC activation, operational continuity, communications flow and interoperability, decision-making, Geospatial Information System (GIS) activities, and EOC information systems management.Responsible for the development for post incident After Action Reports and manages the Corrective Action Program for all incidents.During EOC activations, performs disaster or major incident serves in Command and General Staff positions as necessary, facilitates EOC activation procedures, operational continuity and rhythm, communications flow (using all EOC information systems management) interoperability, and decision-making processes. Creates or provides input for post incident After Action Reports and manages the Corrective Action Program for all incidents.Serve in the State EOC (SEOC) as the WSDOT representative with federal, state, and private agencies.Serve as WSDOT State Agency Liaison (SAL) to the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC).* *QualificationsTo be considered fo
