  Summary This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Notice of Result letters will not be sent to applicants who respond to this flyer. You will provide work for NAVFAC MIDLANT. Responsibilities You will determine and place distribution panels, boxes, fittings, and connections and install wiring, coupling, conduit relays, fixtures, transformers and other electrical devices including electrical service entrances. You will plan and lay out the routing, placement, and arrangement of circuits, controls, and equipment for electrical systems. You will perform installation and repair of electrical systems supplying electricity to specialized equipment which control emergency generators. You will perform structure-to-electrolyte cathodic protection potential surveys, testing and data collection to prevent or control failure. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to do the work of an Electrician without more than normal supervision as demonstrated by the following:1) Installing, repairing, maintaining, troubleshooting, testing, and loading new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, and equipment supporting industrial operations, computer complexes, or similar complex electrical loads. 2) Working from building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and maintenance and repair manuals to install or replace existing electrical systems, controls and equipment; 3) Making operational tests and adjustments as necessary; 4) Arranging and installing electrical devices, e.g.(fittings, relays, boxes, circuit breakers, etc.) in ways that ensure proper and safe operation of electrical systems and equipment; and 5) Using hand and power tools such as cable pullers, hydraulic benders, and pipe threading machines to accomplish repairs. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. PHYSICAL EFFORT: The incumbent works from ladders, scaffolding, platforms, and where parts of the systems worked on are in hard-to-reach places requiring long periods of standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, stretching and working in awkward, cramped, tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts, carries and sets up tools, equipment, and parts that weigh 20-40 pounds. Occasionally may lift moderately heavy objects weighing over 40 pounds with assistance. WORKING CONDITIONS: The work is performed both inside and outside, and sometimes in bad weather and in areas that are noisy, dirty, dusty and greasy. May work on scaffolding or cranes at heights of 30 or more feet or in close quarters such as manholes, attics, or aboard ships. May occasionally be exposed to the possibility of injury from falling, electrical shock, burns, and rotary devices such as electrical motors. Subject to the possibility of cuts and bruises. Education Additional Information This announcement uses the Certain Personnel of the DoD direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Several vacancies may be filled. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the selectee fails to meet the pre-employment requirements, including failure to report to any of the scheduled appointments. Incumbent must be able to become CPR certified. This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. The incumbent may be subject to perform shift work. Call back and emergency overtime are regular requirements of this position. May be required to obtain and maintain current license to operate Folk Lift, High Light (JLG), Bucket Truck and/or construction equipment. May require special certifications of license if assigned work requires special certifications or license to perform the work or use specialized tools or equipment. This position may be considered ESSENTIAL and the incumbent will be required to report for duty or held in a duty status to provide support before, during and/or after special emergency situations, such as, but not limited to, destructive weather (including snow removal), disasters, or periods of increased security threat. NA VF AC MIDLANT is a regionalized command. The incumbent serving in this position may at any time be reassigned to a similar position at any site or workstation within the commuting area as a condition of employment. May be required to serve on-call duty on a rotational basis. When on-call, incumbent is required to carry a duty cell phone and duty pager and must remain available to respond on site to after-hour emergencies within two hours. May be assigned to perform tasks in non-trade related fields as an assistant/helper as workload requires.
