Description:
Testing ALL equipment aboard a newly constructed vessel. Inspects equipment to insure safe and reliable operations.
Referring to and adhering to procedures supplied by Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) to test and troubleshoot equipment and machinery as needed.
Disciplines include but not limited to: Electrical equipment and components.
Fills out various required reports and documentation, such as; work orders, inspection forms, discrepancy sheets, log books, and service forms based off testing.
Direct Marine, Shipbuilding, and repair experience is a plus.
Commissions, tests, and operates equipment such as but not limited to: Steam Gas Turbines, Diesel Engines, propulsion, shafting, propellers, rudders, steering gear, pumps, motor operated valves, compressors, purifiers, refrigeration units, heat exchangers, hydraulic motors, winches, cranes, piping systems, main & auxiliary equipment. Tests installed equipment to ensure systems meet specifications. Installs and tests various onboard equipment. Performs other related tasks as assigned.
Requires use of: Measuring devices like voltage meter, calipers, micrometers, tachometers and standard measuring tape. Also will use but not limited to high speed drills, hand tools, power tools, metric/standard open end wrench set, metric/standard sockets, metric/standard hex keys, screwdrivers, vice grips, channel locks, and ships equipment.
Tests equipment and records reading from dial indicators, rulers, pressure and flow gauges, and other equipment installed meters and gauges. pumps, valves and piping systems, winches, gearboxes, and motors.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Ability to read schematics, diagrams, and tech manuals and to understand their components and how they are designed to operate.
Prior Navy or direct shipboard experience is a plus.
Extensive experience with troubleshooting, repairing, and preventative maintenance.
