  Electrical Engineer Intern – Summer 2024 Location: Greenwood Village, CO CLP Engineering (CLPE) is a full-service electric utility solutions engineering firm with more than twenty years’ experience in electrical utility system ownership, upgrades, maintenance and operations through our sister company, City Light & Power. CLPE offers a wide range of power system engineering services to investor-owned, municipal, cooperative, government, industrial, and commercial customers. CLPE is accepting resumes from Electrical Engineering juniors and 1st semester seniors for our summer internship program. If you're looking for an opportunity to combine classroom theory with hands-on work experience in power systems and utilities, CLPE is the place for you! Local candidates strongly preferred; there is no relocation assistance. Summary/Objective: Under the direct supervision of staff engineers, the intern will perform entry-level engineering, administrative, and technical work in order to gain work experience related to their electrical engineering degree program. Duties and Responsibilities: • Will use CAD software to update drawings for electrical systems including high voltage utility substations, switching stations, and commercial/industrial power distribution systems. • Assist in the preparation of engineering calculations, specifications, and designs. • Update, and maintain GIS database for electrical distribution system. • Support the development of concept design alternatives, engineering calculations, analysis, and engineering estimates for small-scale system improvement projects for substations and distribution systems. • Other duties as assigned. *Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications, & Experience: • Undergraduate student currently enrolled in an electrical engineering degree program at an accredited university. • Interests/coursework in power systems and the electric utility industry. • Working knowledge of CAD software preferred. • Experience using Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Word and Excel. • Strong oral and written communication skills • Excellent interpersonal skills supporting the ability to work effectively as a contributing team member. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: • This is a full-time hourly position for the summer months. Office hours of work are Monday through Friday. • There is no relocation assistance provided for the internship. Work Authorization/Security Clearance: • You must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship. Compensation: • $21.00 - $26.00/hour depending on experience.
