Job Description:
Westat’s 11-week summer internship experiences will be hosted virtually, or on-site at our U.S. office-based locations. Our interns can expect to work 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
The program will begin on Monday, June 3, 2024, and end by August 16, 2024. During the summer internship program, you will be assigned a project deliverable and will present during the final week of the program. You will also attend educational programs and networking events.
This position will be remote and U.S. based. The pay rate for this role is $25/hr.
We are seeking an intern to join Westat's dynamic, Education Studies team. Westat manages the Region 14 Comprehensive Center which is a federally funded technical assistance center. We work with state education agencies in Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas to improve outcomes for all students.

You will work with mentors from our Project teams who will support your learning across various portfolio areas in education such as College and Career Readiness, Educator Effectiveness, Effective Instruction, School and Community Health and Organizational Effectiveness. This is a great opportunity to understand how to support clients at Federal, state, and local levels.
Successful candidates will bring diverse perspectives and varied experiences (whether from school, life, or past jobs). We value curiosity and innovation and are looking for a team member who can work independently and collaboratively as part of a cross-functional team; meet deadlines and proactively update teams on progress through project management software, regular project status meetings and email.
Job Responsibilities:
Support activities that seek to understand and define stakeholder needs. Identify evidence-based practices that can inform the design and implementation of solutions that address the needs.
Support developing data collection instruments; conducting surveys, interviews and focus groups; managing data syntheses and analysis, literature reviews, data representation creation, writing reports and other tasks as required.
Produce presentations and supporting materials for a variety of audiences including clients and corporate executives.
Support communication and evaluation teams with project information needed to share our project impact stories.
Basic Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in a master's degree program.
Background, experience, or relevant coursework with education, policy and/or technical assistance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Interest in topics such as K-12 education, postsecondary education/training, rural education, educational equity, and education research and/or program evaluation.
Proficiency in MS Office Applications (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel) and cloud-based file sharing applications (e.g. Box, Google Drive).
Proficiency with Project Management Software (for example: Smartsheet, Trello or other similar platforms).
Proficiency with video conferencing applications (e.g. Zoom, MS Teams).
