We are looking for eDrive Engineers to specifically work on electric drive Traction Inverter and eMotor design, development and validation for the next generation electrified vehicles. The eDrive engineer will guide and oversee component design, package, integration, and release per Ford’s product development process. Engineer will also work closely with suppliers on design evaluation and validation of the inverter hardware in order to meet Ford product specification and requirements and will be involved in benchmarking of existing technologies as well as development of new solutions for next generation designs and optimization.
Our diverse HEV Product Development Team – situated in Dearborn Michigan - is comprised of HEV product strategists, researchers, hardware designers, software designers, test and calibration engineers, prototypes, and project managers. Together our team works to understand our changing world, identify new opportunities, and take action to design and innovate for the future of mobility and sustainability– Ford’s vehicles and surrounding experiences.
What you'll do...
Responsible for eDrive (electric drive) components in following capacity:
Manage program requirements, classifications, assessments, and deliverables at each engineering milestone.
Manage system interface requirements and specifications for all eDrive components.
Work closely with suppliers on design evaluation and validation of the hardware to meet Ford product specifications and requirements.
Coordinate and conduct hardware testing in the lab to verify and validate component design functionality and reliability.
Lead delivery and documentation of all development milestones for eDrive system and components in system repositories.
Lead interface between eDrive and Underbody Systems Team program management
Manage eDrive system timing to ensure on-time and quality delivery to all vehicle builds.
Develop and maintain eDrive system-level quality documents including Boundary Diagrams, P-Diagrams, and DFMEA.
Integrate lessons learned from previous programs.
Investigate eDrive component technologies and solutions and their applications for xEVs.
Ensure the overall quality of project solutions throughout the design process.
Share and present work to cross-functional teams and executive leadership
You'll have...
Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical) or related field
3+ years in Systems Design and program control preferably in EV or HEV systems (Hybrid Electrical Vehicle)
Even better, you may have...
Master of Science in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical) or related field
5+ years in Systems Design and program control preferably in EV or HEV systems (Hybrid Electrical Vehicle)
Strong knowledge of GPDS and its implementation
Good academic knowledge of high voltage systems in automotive application
Excellent teamwork and communication skills
Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks
