  Overview

  The Editorial Director will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing our content strategy across digital channels, establishing and solidifying Bible Gateway as a trusted thought leader and resource on the Bible.

  Responsibilities

  Develop and execute a comprehensive content strategy aligned with brand and business objectives, including but not limited to:

  Identifying content gaps and opportunities to improve our position as a key resource on the Bible and news about the Bible

  Developing an SEO-focused content strategy for Bible-seekers of all knowledge levels and executing the strategy independently and in partnership with publishers and authors

  Create and maintain a content calendar that takes into account seasonality, organic traffic potential and more. Define and implement a system for updating high-value content to ensure it maintains or grows search traffic.

  Partner with publishing teams to support authors and new books in a way that will appeal to the Bible Gateway audience

  Implement effective content distribution strategies across channels to drive traffic and engagement

  Uphold an editorial tone and credibility that resonates with our audience

  Track performance of content regularly, monitoring impact on key performance indicators, and adjusting strategy and tactical plans when necessary

  Monitor emerging content marketing trends and innovate accordingly

  Qualifications

  Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required; relevant course focus - English, Theology, Journalism, etc. - strongly preferred

  Knowledge:

  Strong understanding of and deep experience creating and executing traffic-driving content strategies

  5+ years of experience in Biblical, theologically-focused or similar content development

  Experience with SEO, CMS, analytics and project management tools; experience with SEMRush and Google Analytics preferred

  Skills:

  Ability to own day-to-day and long-term content strategy

  Strong collaboration and people skills

  Excellent communication, writing, editing, analysis and problem-solving

  The salary range for this position is $80,000-$120,000. We recognize that attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company. As a result, we aim for flexibility in structuring competitive compensation offers to ensure we are able to attract the best candidates. The quoted salary range represents our good faith estimate as to what our ideal candidates are likely to expect, and we tailor our offers within the range based on the selected candidate's experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process.

  In addition to cash compensation, the company provides a comprehensive and highly competitive benefits package, with a variety of physical health, retirement and savings, caregiving, emotional wellbeing, transportation, and other benefits, including "elective" benefits employees may select to best fit the needs and personal situations of our diverse workforce.
