Robert Half is in the search for an Editorial Designer to support our client on a part-time basis. This is a remote opportunity for a publishing agency based in Detroit, Michigan. As an Editorial Designer, you will be tasked with an array of responsibilities, primarily revolving around the design and production of book and magazine content. This role is an excellent opportunity for those who thrive in a creative environment and are adept at using tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe Illustrator.

Responsibilities:

• Designing and creating compelling book and magazine covers that align with the content and target audience.

• Handling typography and formatting tasks to ensure readability and aesthetic appeal.

• Utilizing Adobe Creative Cloud, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe Illustrator to craft unique and engaging designs.

• Working closely with the production artist to ensure the smooth execution of templated design projects.

• Developing comprehensive layouts for print production.

• Creating captivating copy layouts to enhance the reader's experience.

• Designing brochures and other promotional materials as needed.

• Overseeing page layout design to ensure consistency and high-quality output.

• Collaborating with the team to understand the design requirements and incorporating feedback effectively.

• Constantly updating and maintaining design skills to stay abreast of industry trends.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years experience in an Editorial Designer role or similar

• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, with a focus on Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign

• Demonstrated experience in designing brochures and copy layouts

• Expertise in page layout design, with an emphasis on creating compelling and visually appealing designs

• Knowledge of comprehensive templated layout techniques

• Familiarity with print production processes and best practices

• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines

• Strong portfolio showcasing creativity, attention to detail, and excellent design skills

• Ability to work remotely on a 20 hour per week basis with flexible schedule, an occasional in-office meetings if possible

• Bachelor's degree in graphic design or related field, or equivalent work experience
