Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an Early-Career Environmental/Remediation Scientist or Engineer in our Pennington, New Jersey, Lyndhurst, New Jersey, Blue Bell, Pennsylvania or Philadelphia, Pennsylvania office where you will apply your academic knowledge and practical experience to real-world situations related to contaminated site assessment & remediation, while also developing the business skills needed for a successful consulting career. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Radiological and chemical data analysis and contaminant fate & transport evaluation;Preparation of technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals; andFieldwork such as soil, surface water, and groundwater sampling, drilling and contractor oversight, and remediation treatment system operation and maintenance.Ability to review lab reports and keep data organized.Training: This position requires OSHA health and safety, first aid, CPR training, and medical monitoring, all paid for by Geosyntec. We also offer professional development opportunities including in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our professionals to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.Some overnight travel will be necessary.
Education and Licensure
Bachelor's degree in science (e.g., geology, geochemistry, health physics, or environmental chemistry) or environmental, civil, or chemical engineering. (required)Advanced degree in the same. (preferred)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
At least 2 years of relevant environmental project experience. (required)Experience working on projects involving radiological and chemical contamination; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (preferred)Prior experience in environmental consulting. (preferred)Ability to work flexible hours, with the opportunity for overnight travel. (preferred)Knowledge of federal and state regulations and guidance related to environmental site assessment and remediation, especially pertaining to radiological contaminants (e.g., MARSSIM and other DOE, NRC, and USEPA documents). (strongly preferred)Excellent written and oral communication skills. (required)Proficient in Microsoft Excel. (required)Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Visual Sample Plan (VSP), RESRAD, and R software. (preferred)Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and 8-hr refreshers. (preferred)Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
