JOB REQUIREMENTS: Instruct preschool-aged children in activitiesdesigned to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth needed forprimary school in preschool, day care center, or other child developmentfacility. May be required to hold State certification. Confer withparents and staff to discuss educational activities and policies, andstudents\' behavioral or learning problems. Prepare and maintainattendance, activity, planning, accounting, or personnel reports andrecords for officials and agencies, or direct preparation andmaintenance activities. Arrange indoor and outdoor space to facilitatecreative play, motor-skill activities, and safety. Assimilate arrivingchildren to the school environment by greeting them, helping them removeouterwear, and selecting activities of interest to them. Attendprofessional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher trainingworkshops to maintain and improve professional competence. Attend staffmeetings, and serve on committees as required. Attend to children\'sbasic needs by feeding them, dressing them, and changing their diapers.Demonstrate activities to children. Establish and enforce rules forbehavior, and procedures for maintaining order. Maintain accurate andcomplete student records as required by laws, district policies, andadministrative regulations. Meet with other professionals to discussindividual students\' needs and progress. Meet with parents andguardians to discuss their children\'s progress and needs, determinetheir priorities for their children, and suggest ways that they canpromote learning and development. Observe and evaluate children\'sperformance, behavior, social development, and physical health. Prepareand implement remedial programs for students requiring extra help.Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities. Provide a varietyof materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate and use,both in learning activities and in imaginative play. Read books toentire classes or to small groups. Teach basic skills such as color,shape, number and letter recognition, personal hygiene, and socialskills. Teach proper eating habits and personal hygiene. *****OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum educational requirement ofan Associate\'s degree in Early Childhood Education or a Bachelor\'sdegree in Early Childhood Education or in a related field that includes18 credits in Early Childhood Education / Development.
