The Teacher Assistant is also responsible for the care, hygiene, learning, and developmental activities of the children; communication with parents; and maintaining the classroom records, cleanliness, and orderliness.Responsibilities:Assist Lead Teacher to Create and maintain a safe and healthy environmentMaintain inventory and upkeep of both center and classroom supplies and materials.Report needed repairs and maintenance to appropriate personnel.Provide a safe, developmentally appropriate indoor and outdoor learning environmentApply health standards and care for the children and classroom.Support with planning & provide curriculum through normal care giving routinesEstablish a learning environment to build and enhance each childs self-esteem and positive self-conceptProvide activities and opportunities that encourage curiosity, creativity, exploration and problem solving appropriate to the developmental level and learning style of each childIn absence of lead teacher, prepare monthly, weekly and daily activity plans and insure progress towards completionImplement positive guidance practices that teach and meet the individual temperaments of each childObserve, document and assess individual and group needs, interests, and skillsProvide family support to parents of the childrenPlan, promote and implement family involvementMaintain open, friendly and cooperative verbal and written communication with each childs familyProvide parents with information, resources and referrals as neededFoster positive discipline and communication in the classroomGuide and sustain positive interactions between children and adultsMaintain an atmosphere that encourages open communication with children and adultsProvide opportunities and support for children to understand, acquire, and use verbal and non-verbal means of communicating thoughts and feelingsCreate and Maintain a professional team environmentSubmit attendance records and required paperwork in a timely mannerMaintain confidentiality of children, families, and staffAppropriately supervise and delegate duties to classroom staff, initiate and encouraging teamwork among adults in the room and centerContinue professional developmentParticipate in required training and share information with other staff as requestedParticipate in scheduled supervision, require meetings and retreatsParticipate in Center activities and other duties as requestedJob Requirements:The following requirements are those that are normally required for performance of this position.
