  The Director, Transportation Analytics and Optimization is responsible for driving the profitable conversion of inbound lanes from vendor managed to US Foods managed through collaboration and partnership with external vendors and Direct Procurement during negotiations. This includes responsibility for the overall strategy and engagement with selected vendors in partnership with Direct Procurement on freight terms to drive a total US Foods EBITDA and overseeing a team accountable for the analysis of each vendor or lane to determine optimal freight terms for long term US Foods management of lanes.

  Flexible Work Policy: The Director, Transportation Analytics and Optimization position has been segmented as Hybrid, meaning the work is a combination of onsite and virtual. This position is based out of our corporate headquarters in Rosemont, IL.

  ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  Develop and maintain vendor relationships to foster mutually beneficial goals

  Partner and communicate internally with cross-functional teams, particularly with Direct Procurement and Logistics, to drive maximum margin for US Foods

  Provide guidance, establish processes, and lead both the strategic direction and execution for select vendor negotiations in partnership with Direct Procurement on freight terms

  Motivate and lead a high-performance management culture; attract, recruit, hire, and retain talented associates; provide mentoring and coaching to all team members to achieve higher personal effectiveness and continuing career development

  Establish, monitor, and accountability for Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that lead to optimized freight income and total margin for selected vendors

  Act as a thought leader in developing new initiatives and as a key partner of the project team during the scoping, piloting, and implementation phases of each initiative

  Benchmark and understand vendor as well as industry trends, ensuring US Foods approach is market competitive

  Other duties as assigned by manager

  SUPERVISION :

  Responsible for a team of approx..6 Logistic Analysts, Lead and all Transportation Analytics and Optimization department associatesRELATIONSHIPS

  Internal: Replenishment, Finance, Logistics, Direct Procurement, Gampac, Carrier Management, Direct Procurement, Transformation Office, I&A

  External : Vendors, Carriers, Various Supply Chain Companies | Benchmarking Services

  MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  8 years of supply chain experience with a focus on transportation operations and strategy implementation

  5 years of experience leading people

  Strong communication skills and experience influencing peers and senior leaders

  Strong analytical skills and experience with negotiating tradeoffs

  Competency identifying and establishing long term strategies and implementing

  EDUCATION

  Bachelor’s degree in business, transportation and logistics, operations management, supply chain management, or equivalent experienceCERTIFICATIONS/TRAINING

  Six Sigma Green Belt or Black BeltPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  Industry knowledge: Working knowledge of distribution operations, including routing and/or transportation, and of related federal, state and local regulations in the foodservice or transportation industry

  Project Management: Strong project management skills and knowledge of program management principles, methodology and tools; able to plan and lead project implementations with a sense of urgency and in the context of broader program initiatives, including scheduling, resources, scope, budget, risks/issues, communication, and reporting
