Robert Half is currently seeking a seasoned and well-organized Director of Accounting for a client in Virginia Beach, Virginia. In this pivotal role, you will be tasked with a diverse range of responsibilities encompassing both accounting functions and office management. Your duties will include overseeing financial statement preparation, conducting account analysis and reconciliations, performing cash flow analysis, managing budgets and forecasting, preparing for audits, maintaining internal controls, and actively engaging with banks and investors. We are in search of a candidate with exceptional analytical skills who thrives in a challenging and fast-paced environment, contributing to the successful growth of our organization.
Responsibilities:
Conduct monthly accounting close procedures and deliverables, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
Prepare monthly consolidated Profit & Loss Statement and Balance Sheet Flux Analysis for management reporting.
Analyze financial results, identifying trends, performance metrics, and benchmarks.
Lead and manage a team within the accounting department, serving as a conduit between accounting staff and top executives.
Manage, mentor, and motivate staff effectively.
Collaborate closely with I.T., banking representatives, and investors to maintain current loans, processes, and ensure compliance.
Work collaboratively with business partners to ensure adherence to corporate accounting policies, procedures, and controls, providing support on special requests when necessary.
Continuously focus on improving current accounting processes to enhance efficiency.
Oversee regulatory reviews and testing with both internal and external auditors.
Manage company insurance and related requirements.
Participate in various department-wide initiatives and allocate resources for Ad-hoc projects as necessary.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred.
CPA certification is a plus.
5+ years of overall general accounting experience.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced database management skills in Excel.
Practical knowledge of Accounting Software Systems.
Competence in interim and Annual Financial Reporting & Planning.
Demonstrated understanding of Bad Debt Allowances.
Experience with month-end closings process.
Expertise in Balance Sheet Reconciliation.
Detail-oriented, flexible, and organized.
Proven experience in leading and motivating staff.
Self-driven motivator with initiative on projects and a strong ability to solve creative challenges.
Excellent time management and multitasking skills.
Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high-pressure environment, prioritize effectively, and adapt to changes while remaining diligent.
Exceptional analytical, quantitative, and social skills.
Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
Willingness and ability to meet business-critical deadlines.
