Position : DIRECTOR, FINANCIAL REPORTING
Location : Toronto (Bloor/Yonge)
Summary Profile
Within the construct of Black & McDonald's de-centralized structure, there is a need for a senior and technically strong finance leader to help assure the quality and accuracy of our financial and tax reporting and combine technical expertise with operational experience in guiding a small corporate finance team and a larger regional finance team, the latter on an indirect basis.
This is not solely a management role, i.e., it also requires rolling up the shirtsleeves and exhibiting skill and comfort in doing original work and analyzing data. The successful candidate needs to be comfortable working with ERP systems, be highly proficient in preparing written analysis pertaining to tax, accounting, variance analysis and Board-level communications and be a mentor/coach in guiding and improving the finance teams' capabilities and skills.
This role will also work closely with the CFO on finance improvement projects and supporting the shareholders' family office accounting and tax functions. (i.e., family enterprise). This role will not appeal to individuals with big egos, who require a significant variety in their day to day, are looking to mainly work on projects, require a large team or accelerated career progression. Success in the role will require learning about current processes and the drive to design improvements in line with the organizational culture and maturity level.
