　　The Digital Incubation Unit (DIU) explores new business models and incubates digital startups for the BASF's Coatings Division. On one hand the DIU takes advantage of the group's strong brand position, on the other hand we work like a startup. The unit therefore explores the market trends and business opportunities to add new value to BASF Coatings”

　　Objectives:

　　The Digital Incubation Unit (DIU) discovers and validates digital business models for BASF’s Coatings division. At the DIU, we focus on the fascinating interplay between the challenges of the automotive and surface treatment industry and the opportunities offered by emerging digital trends and startups.

　　As the Digital Innovation Manager you join the DIU as an experienced fellow with entrepreneurial drive. Here you sit in the driver seat of DIU innovation projects from ideation to end of validation. Your hands-on-mentality and out-of-the-box-thinking comes to shine both in evaluating innovation ideas fueled by the BASF Coatings core business ideas, as well as in identifying innovative business & investment opportunities within the areas of mobility and surface solutions.

　　By being obsessed with customer feedback from the beginning, you are fully equipped to validate, conceptualize & bring to life the most-promising new business opportunities. You are passionate to drive real innovative change in the coatings industry. You are not afraid to make mistakes and live and breathe Design Thinking and Lean Startup.

　　As DIU Digital Innovation Manager you are an integral part of an interdisciplinary team. You are able to prioritize your own resources independently, with the objective of realizing maximum impact. Working with full ownership and high level of independence, you are reporting to & claiming feedback from the DIU management.

　　Main Tasks:

　　Interacts with BASF existing / potential customers to validate new digital business model hypotheses. These interactions will include for example interviews, workshops, site visits.

　　Leads idea development in the entire project life cycle, which could include ideation, validation, development, launch, maintenance, and exit. These projects can potentially be self-developed projects or startup collaboration.

　　Constantly communicate with major senior corporate stakeholders and inspire the colleagues from the BUs to brainstorm and co-create.

　　Identifies know-how and network from the BUs and external startups that can be leveraged in the DIU projects.

　　Works with global business model validation lead and global startup collaboration lead closely by sharing project updates, successes, and failures.

　　Acts according to lean startup methodology to fail fast and cheap and analyzes metrics that track the success of projects.

　　University degree in a relevant field (e.g. business administration, entrepreneurship or similar). Master or MBA is a plus.

　　Relevant work experience of 2-4 years as a full-time employee in previous roles in management consulting, startups, or corporate innovation / digital units.

　　Understanding and passion in Design Thinking. Experience in running Design Thinking interviews and workshops is a bonus.

　　Knowledge in the areas of corporate innovation, business model innovation & entrepreneurship

　　Proven/Shown core values of accountability, passion of driving real change, not afraid to make mistakes and fail (fail fast, fail often), out-of-the-box-thinking, sharp-minded, hands-on-mentality & entrepreneurial drive.

　　Professional communication skills (Proactive information and high responsiveness) with business fluent English and Chinese.

　　Travel availability.

　　1-2 years professional experience in the automotive industry as a big plus, but not a must
