Location: Saint Paul, MN Wage: Starting at $23 plus DOE Hours: Days, 8 hours, with flexibility between 4 am - 5:30 pm Benefits of the diesel mechanic: Medical Dental Vision FSA Life Disability Accident Critical Referral bonus Duties of the diesel mechanic: Inspect, repair, and maintain engine and mechanical components of diesel locomotives. Repair running gears: wheels, springs, hangers, and brake rigging traction motors. Test and repair brake systems, safety appliances, couplers, draft systems, air compressors, safety valves, lube oil pumps filter systems, fuel systems, radiators, and shutters. Install, disassemble, repair, or replace locomotive diesel engine components. Perform scheduled and preventative maintenance on tools and equipment. Requirements of the diesel mechanic: High School Diploma/GED and preferred associates or certification in Diesel Technologies, RailCar Repair certification. Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Able to lift and carry up to 85 lbs. Possess a valid state-issued driver's license. Able to visually distinguish colors and pass testing. Able to use hands for activities involving holding, grasping, turning, and pulling. Able to work on uneven surfaces; frequently climbing ladders and getting on/off equipment; work at various heights, including making repairs atop locomotives. Able to work in conditions with loud noise and fumes; work on/around heavy/moving machinery; bend, walk, stand, sit for an extended time; use hand tools.
