Grade 10 (Salaried)Position Description:The UofL Health system is seeking a Development Officer III or Development Officer IV, depending on experience level of the top candidate, to serve the UofL Health system. Position will be filled based on qualifications of the candidate. This person will lead, develop, and manage a comprehensive grants program in coordination with the VP for UofL Health Philanthropy and the hospital CEOs. The candidate will work collaboratively with colleagues across UofL Health, UofL School of Medicine and University Advancement, to identify, cultivate, solicit, and grant prospects for the UofL Health system. They will be responsible for prospecting potential supporters, developing grant consent, submission, tracking, and reporting. All job functions must be performed with a high degree of professionalism, including responsibility, initiative, creativity, dependability, human relations, cooperation, courtesy, confidentiality, and in compliance with Affirmative Action guidelines. The ideal candidate will have strong written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills, and be mission-driven.Duties & ResponsibilitiesManage relationship with the internal leadership of the UofL Health system, gathering and disseminating funding priorities and opportunities with development team.Collaborate with other University Advancement staff to ensure a donor-centric approach is taken, with full consideration of an organization’s multiple interests.Oversee the grants program in coordination with the UofL Health development team and UofL Health leadership.Research prospective grants and identify new opportunities for funding.Draft grant requests and complete submissions.Track requests and fund usage to adhere to grant requirements and ensure timelines are met for usage and reporting.Draft and submit all grant required grant reporting.Build relationships with foundations and board members to develop affinity and promote efforts.Build relationships with doctors, staff, and patients to collect patient and provider stories on impact of grant funding and report to funders.Supervise the drafting and deployment of monthly thank you emails and letters to foundations or related entities.Collaborate with stewardship team on efforts for UofL Health - including the compilation and sharing of stewardship information and grant reporting from across the hospitals.Meet or exceed annual unit goals as defined each year by supervisor.Build and manage a portfolio of approximately 75 prospective supporters. Refer and identify prospects to, and work collaboratively with, colleagues. Collaborate with event coordinator on planning of events for stewardship and cultivation.Occasional work on nights and weekends will be required to attend events in support of the unit initiatives as well as to complete tasks. Occasional in-state and regional travel may be required.Preferred QualificationsThe ideal candidate for the Development Officer IV will have 7-10 years of experience and the ideal candidate for the Development Officer III will have 3-5 years of experience. Either would also have a passion for improving community health, health outcomes and health equity, and advancing academic medical care for our region.
