Responsibilities Duties are performed aboard an inboard marine drive, diesel powered, 35 passenger charter fishing or tour vessel. Performs general maintenance work; repairing and painting decks, hulls, superstructure and interior spaces, handling lines during docking, moving and towing operations, mending lines, standing lookout, wheel watches and operating fishing gear. Orients passengers in the use of fishing gear and explains species of fish. Baits hooks and lands fish. Helps passengers in all emergencies. Conducts or assists with customer boat safety briefing as necessary. Cleans vessel at end of day, to include removing garbage, scrubbing decks, railings and sides of vessel, washing windows, cleaning of passenger cabin and marine head. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Knowledge of and skill in the use of fishing and vessel equipment. Ability to use and maintain appropriate tools and equipment. FWS Allowances and Differentials This is a federal wage schedule (FWS) position. All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee. Regular full-time, regular part-time (to include those in a limited tenure appointment category) and regularly scheduled flexible employees are entitled to Sunday premium pay when working Sunday shifts. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 7.5% for the entire shift when a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 1500 and 2400. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 10% of the scheduled rate if a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 2300-0800.
