Purpose
Reporting directly to the Senior Engineer – Mine Planning, the Mine Planner will be critical in providing detailed designs of stoping areas, development headings, and mine services. The mine planner will also be responsible for short term deliverables including blasting, clearing and drilling packages. The mine planner will work closely with the mine department to ensure practicality of designs.
Responsibilities
Produce development and stope drill and blast designs following engineering best practices and standards
Produce daily mine deliverables including but not limited to blasting, gas clearing and drilling packages
Facilitate conceptual meetings for pending mine designs
Track and analyze CMS data with regards to stope dilution and recovery to make recommendations for improvements to designs
Maintain a drill/blast database and provide information for month end reporting
Work closely with the Mine Department to ensure practicality of designs
Liaise with Ventilation Technicians and/or Rock Mechanic Engineers to determine ventilation, ground support requirements and stope sizing/sequencing
Requirements
B.Sc. degree or Mining Technology diploma in Mining Engineering or suitable technical skills
1 - 3 years of experience in a similar role is preferred
Excellent communication skills (oral, written, listening)
Strong facilitation and presentation skills
Ability to positively interact with co-workers and team members
Ability to work with a diverse mix of cultures
Proficiency with mine planning computer software (Deswik and Microsoft Office Suite)
Willingness and capability to work in and adapt to a fast-paced, safe production oriented setting
Working Conditions
The work schedule for this position is 14 on, 14 days off, working 12-hour days.
