  About the Opportunity

  The Database Administrator is responsible for the architecture, security, maintenance and optimization of databases at Rapid Finance.

  The applicant will work with Software Development, Business Intelligence and IT staff to set up and maintain various Microsoft SQL Server databases which support transactional applications and data warehouses location onprem and in cloud environments.

  To succeed in this critical role, these individuals will act as point on several development efforts, have well developed communication skills at both technical and functional levels, offer solutions to problems and take pride in the highest quality of work possible.  Applicant should have very strong technical skills and be able to work as part of a dynamic team in a fast paced environment.

  Responsibilities will include:

  Implementing and Supporting best practice DB architecture designs

  Implementing and Supporting various SQL failover scenarios

  Implementing and Supporting data replication across multiple environments

  Maintaining and upgrading the HADR infrastructure (AlwaysOn) for performance and redundancy

  Monitoring and optimizing processing power and disk utilization

  Managing logging and backup strategies

  Supporting Power BI, SSRS and SSIS activities and development

  Upgrading software versions as needed

  Required qualifications:

  Strong experience in a Microsoft SQL Server database administration role

  Strong experience with Azure related SQL Technologies (Azure SQL, SQL MI, SQL on VM, etc).

  Strong experience with clustered, replicated and load balanced systems

  Strong experience with deploying and maintaining SQL failover based systems

  Thorough and detail oriented – comfortable testing own code and documenting designs

  Problem solver – Someone who makes recommendations by identifying the problem, collaborating with stakeholders and business process owners to solve complicated issues with sustainable processes and systems, and follows up to test the implemented solution

  Well-rounded – Strong analysis, communications, interpersonal skills and project management skills are essential

  Great communication skills needed to bridge gap between various stakeholders - internal and external, technical and non-technical

  Interest in staying current by learning new technologies

  Most importantly, great problem-solving skills

  You have a clear understanding and hands-on experience in installing and configuring a variety of SQL related technologies, including MS SQL Server, Azure SQL, Power BI, SSRS and SSIS.

  You have knowledge of automated uptime and performance monitoring

  You have an understanding of optimizing database designs for performance and to ensure data integrity

  You have knowledge of database design best practices for both OLTP and OLAP systems

  You have a strong understanding about installing and configuring a HADR infrastructure using AlwaysOn

  You have knowledge of hardware and infrastructure best practices for MS SQL Server
